Côte-Rôtie red wine (great red wine from the Rhone Valley)

Micro cuvée from a plot of land called Lieu-Dit Le Plomb, located at the extreme north of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, composed essentially of shale, facing due south and with a particularly arid summer.

Grape variety : 100% Syrah (13% vol.)

Vintage : 2021 (ready to taste!)


This Côte-Rôtie does not aim to be consensual, but rather to express frankly the aromas of the terroir and the Syrah. Already the wine comes from a parcel where the vines are suffering, the summer drought forces the vines to go and fetch water deeply bringing back minerals from the subsoil. We are therefore already producing a red wine of character, but to preserve even more this identity of the terroir, Les Vins de Vienne only partially destemmed the harvest of this LE PLOMB cuvée.

In order to round off the wine, a 16-month ageing in oak barrels is necessary. It is long but it is worth it when you taste the result.

On tasting, the aromas are well marked with black fruits and a structured wine with melted and elegant tannins. The finish is long and rather spicy.

This Côte-Rôtie du Lieu-dit Le Plomb is a real nectar for lovers of great Syrah.

This great red wine is ideal with tasty meat with a mushroom sauce, roast beef or filet mignon with morels for example.
