Rouge des Cabanes - Red wine aged in the sea

BORDEAUX GRAVES - RED WINE
Vintage : 2020 (13% vol.)
Grape varieties : Merlot (75%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (25%)

We introduced you to the white version last year, and this year Franck LABEYRIE has decided to test the ageing at sea for a red wine.

This wine is stored in the oyster trays of one of his friends in the Arcachon basin. The wine thus benefits from the optimal conditions for its evolution:

- A constant temperature between 8 and 12 metres deep

- A very high hydrometry rate (very wet under there!)

- A filtered light, filtered by sea water

Consequence of the passage at sea

Well, when we compare Château de Lugey from this vintage kept in the cellar to this one, we had the feeling that it was older. Perhaps a vintage or two, especially with a slightly more tiled colour and a more rounded finish. The wine remains fruity, but with strong notes of coffee and roasted almonds. Add to this a subtle iodine touch resulting from its passage at sea, and you have a very pleasant red wine to taste.

But it must be said that the effect caused around the table is mainly related to the aesthetics of this unique bottle with the visible traces of its long passage at sea.

Do you want to surprise your friends with an unusual bottle? This is the wine you need!

Food and wine pairing with this Bordeaux aged in immersion

This is not easy! As much as the white of the huts is naturally associated with oysters, so much with this red we will avoid seafood, even if we are necessarily tempted.

During a tasting with friends we tasted the white of the cabins is an aperitif / starter around seafood, and we then tasted the red of the cabins with a roasted capon with chestnuts from Ardèche: A delight from start to finish.

Une bouteille qui fait voyager!! :)
