SAINT-JOSEPH « Les Pierres Sèches » - CUILLERON Estate

SAINT-JOSEPH "Les Pierres sèches" (great red wine from the northern Rhône valley)

YVES CUILLERON Estate

Single grape variety : Syrah

Vintage : 2021

Alcohol : 12,5% / Vol

When you walk in the north of the Rhone valley and more particularly in the south of Vienne, you will notice many small walls consolidating the terraces where the vines are planted, some of them being the appellation. These walls are made of dry stone and this is what inspired Yves CUILLERON to name his Saint-Joseph.

All the viticulture practised by our winegrower friend is a reasoned viticulture where the use of insecticides is prohibited and where the vine grows naturally according to the seasons and the weather on the steep terraced slopes. Treatments are therefore linked to the climate and are not systematic.

This Saint-Joseph "Les Pierres secèches" is undoubtedly a very good representative of this appellation and it shows us everything we love about Saint-Joseph, a wine on the fruit reflecting the whole terroir.

It is matured for nearly 18 months in barrels and the blending is carried out just before bottling from the plots of land selected to enter into its composition.

The result is a lovely wine to be enjoyed young and which will continue to evolve favourably for about ten years.

On the fruit, the nose is characteristic of this appellation with ripe red fruits very marked on cherry and raspberry.

Beautiful freshness on the palate where all these fresh aromas blend with beautifully balanced tannins.
